What Is the Invisalign Process Like?
When you have crooked teeth or a jaw alignment problem, Invisalign may offer a suitable solution. Our orthodontist in Bethesda and Laurel, MD, offers these aligners to patients who can benefit from their effectiveness at correcting mild or moderate spacing or alignment issues, including crooked or crowded teeth. Here’s what you can expect from this process.
Invisalign Consultation
We start with a consultation to weigh certain factors and determine if Invisalign is the best option for your teeth. For more complex problems, we may need to explore other treatments, such as braces.
Dental Impressions
If you’re moving forward with Invisalign, we’ll take impressions of your teeth to create your custom aligner trays. This ensures a comfortable fit and effective treatment, since you’ll be wearing these trays most of the time.
Custom Trays
Choosing Invisalign in Laurel and Bethesda, MD, means you’ll have aligner trays to wear for 20 to 22 hours a day. We recommend removing them to eat or drink beverages other than water. You can also remove them to clean them, but you should sleep with them in.
Appointments During Treatment
We’ll meet with you during the course of your Invisalign treatment to check your progress and make any necessary adjustments. Throughout treatment, you’ll switch to new sets of trays as your jaw and teeth change.
Retainers
After you’re done with the aligner phase, we’ll have you wear retainers to maintain your results. You’ll usually wear them for several weeks.
