Top Reasons to Get Invisalign

At Heller Orthodontics, we make it our mission to provide the best orthodontic care for all of our patients in and around the Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Laurel, Maryland areas. We recognize that each patient is unique and has different needs, which is why we offer a number of different orthodontic treatments in order to best serve each patient. One of these treatments is Invisalign, the alternative to braces. Here are some reasons why you might want to choose Invisalign over traditional braces.

Invisalign Is Virtually Invisible

Invisalign is practically invisible; others won’t even know that you’re wearing something on your teeth unless you tell them! You’ll get a beautiful smile as you would with braces, but while remaining covert about your orthodontic treatment. It’s perfect for those who may be self-conscious about being seen with braces.

You Can Eat Whatever You Want

When you wear braces, there are certain foods you have to avoid, which include hard and sticky foods. Hard foods can break wires and brackets while sticky foods can get trapped in your braces and loosen the brackets. When you have Invisalign, you don’t have to worry about that. You just remove your aligners and you can eat the same way you normally do.

It’s Easy and Convenient to Use

Brushing and flossing can be an inconvenience when wearing braces, but when using Invisalign, it’s a simple process. You just take out your aligners and you will have full access for brushing and flossing.

They Offer a Comfortable Orthodontic Treatment

Standard braces are made of metal and they may irritate your lips and cheeks in the early stages of treatment. Invisalign is smooth and tight-fitting; you are much less likely to have any irritation in your mouth.

Invisalign Will Keep Your Teeth from Grinding

When you’re wearing your aligners, they will actually also double as a light mouth guard. This will keep you from incurring any damage from teeth grinding, especially at night.

It Simplifies the Retention Phase

After you’re finished with orthodontic treatment, you’ll move on to the retention phase for a certain period of time. You’ll have to wear a retainer after you’re done with Invisalign just like you would with other orthodontic treatments. Your retainer will fit your teeth just like the Invisalign aligners so there’s no problem getting accustomed to your retainer when you’ve straightened your teeth with Invisalign.
